The 2024 season began with an in-person auction at Hobson's Bar & Kitchen in Boston. We ran up a large food and drink tab and had a good time picking our teams. We didn't change any rules coming into the season, but this was the final year of the current division alignment. The season was very competitive. Only two teams were mathematically eliminated through 12 weeks. Ten teams won at least six games this season and two division winners weren't settled until the final week of the season.
Top 5 Auction Prices:
$108- Josh Allen (Paul)

Playoffs:
Championship Game #1: Frozen Tundra (Eric) defeated Grid Iron (Paul) , 148.0-86.5.
Championship
Game #2: Massive Nassiffs (Jeff N.)
defeated Just Call Me Dushi (Matt L.) ,
171.0 - 142.5.
Toilet Bowl Loser: Game of Endzones (Dave).
Fantasy Bowl: Frozen
Tundra (Eric) defeated Massive Nassiffs
(Jeff N.), 130.5 - 90.5.
The Fantasy Bowl started untraditionally, with games on a Christmas
Wednesday. The first game did not go well for the Frozen Tundra as Patrick
Mahomes accumulated 15 points for the Massive Nassiffs, and the Pittsburgh
D gave them a goose egg (0). In the afternoon game, Derrick Henry and Mark
Andrews were able to score TDs and accumulate some yards to make Xmas end
on a good note for the Tundra. On Thursday, things got even better as the
Massive Nassiffs started three players in a horrible 6-3 Thursday night
game between Seattle and Chicago. On Saturday, the pendulum swung back
toward the Massive Nassiffs as Cameron Dicker scored 17 points. The Sunday
games allowed the Tundra to build a sustainable lead. Even with their
leading scorer, Jalen Hurts, out due to a concussion, the Tundra received
a combined 42 pts from Kenny Pickett and Devonta Smith. Jalen McMillan
chipped in with two TDs, and James Cook added one. The Massive Nassiffs
only scored 1 TD across the Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday games. The
Frozen Tundra came into Monday night with a 34-point lead and extended
that lead with a 3-TD performance from Jared Goff. The Massive Nassiffs
scored TDs with Deebo Samuel and Sam LaPorta, but the damage was already
done. The Frozen Tundra defeated the Massive Nassiffs, 130.5 - 90.5 to win
the 2024 Title. Eric is the first back-to-back winner since Mike Wakeley
in 2002/2003.
In other league action, Just Call Me Dushi scored 118.5 points and
defeated a top-scoring Grid Iron by 28.5 pts to capture 3rd place. In the
Toilet Bowl, the North Quincy Posse edged out Game of Endzones, 101.5 -
100.0. We look forward to their $50 contributions to the bar tab next
year.
The Frozen Tundra won when they had to and earned the #1 seed. Just Call
Me Dushi went on a four-game winning streak to close the year and jump
ahead of The Bigg Doggs. Grid Iron scored a ton of points and averaged
122/game. The Massive Nassifs won the Helen Keller division and then
scored a season-high 171 points and earned a trip to the Fantasy Bowl.
Ultimately, it was the Frozen Tundra's year as they were able to beat both
the Grid Iron and Massive Nassiffs by large margins to win the league.
The Frozen Tundra came into the season with just four players on their
roster - Jalen Hurts, James Cook, Isiah Pacheco, and Jayden Reed. They had
$318 left to spend and went to work, adding Derrick Henry ($69 - nice),
Jared Goff ($56), and Devonta Smith ($50) as their foundational players.
Rounding out the starting lineup was Mark Andrews at TE, a Jerome
Ford/Nick Chubb combo at RB, and Hollywood Brown and Diontae Johnson at
WR. Hollywood never played a down for the Frozen Tundra, Pacheco broke his
leg in Week 2, Mark Andrews started the season very slowly, Devonta Smith
missed three games due to injury and was playing hurt in other games, and
Diontae Johnson got hurt, traded, and eventually released. The
Frozen Tundra was very weak at WR and the Flex position but mixed and
matched their way to a 9-1 start. Jauan Jennings was a key Week 3 pickup
that helped the team stay afloat. The other big pickup was the Week 15
pickup of Jalen McMillan, who was unceremoniously cut by the Massive
Nassiffs in the prior week. Being able to start McMillan versus the
Massive Nasiffs in the Fantasy Bowl was very satisfying. It's not very
often you can pick up a starting WR off the waiver wire that late in the
season.McMillan scored 42.5 points in the season's last three weeks and
was a huge contributor to the Championship squad. For the first time I can
think of, the Frozen Tundra weren't able to make a trade all season.
Luckily, the Frozen Tundra were amazingly consistent and never scored
fewer than 89 points in any game during the season.
This marked Eric's 4th Scandalous League Football Title and 11th overall
Scandalous League Championship.
