The 2022 Auction marked the first year since 2019 that all twelve of us had gathered in person rather than via Zoom. The only rule changes this year involved the scoring system. Like the other positions, we changed rushing TDs for QBs from 9-12-15 to 6-9-12. We also changed Defense/Special Teams TDs from 3 pts to 6 pts and added a 1-point penalty for lost fumbles by offensive players. We picked new divisions this season and randomly picked opponents for our "15th game". That opponent would be played in Week 4 and Week 12. With this only being the 2nd season since the NFL extended to 18 weeks, it was going to be interesting to see how many wins it would take to make the playoffs. In 2021, it was nine wins, but it's certainly possible that eight wins may be a threshold in the future.
Top 5 Auction Prices:
$131- Jonathan Taylor (Mike W.)

The NQP started the auction with some solid keepers from the previous
season. They would be all set at QB with Burrow and Tua. With Chase, Lamb, and
Claypool, wide receivers were also a strength. League observers felt that the
NQP needed to obtain starting running backs, a tight end, and one or two flex
players to be successful in 2022. In past auctions, Loftus didn't seem to have a
detailed plan. He'd pick players he liked and sabotage other owners' plans by
overspending on players he probably didn't truly need. The 2022 auction was
different for the NQP. He started by spending big money on BOTH Deebo Samuel and
Tyreek Hill. Only a few minutes into the auction, he had already spent $210 of
the $272 he had left. From there, he addressed his running backs by going after
talent, not projected rankings. He secured Raheem Mostert, Khalil Herbert,
Damien Williams, Ke'Shawn Vaughn, and Kyren Williams for a combined $36. Maybe
there was a plan after all! He still managed to frustrate owners by spending on
the out-of-favor Jimmy Garoppolo instead of addressing his starting Tight End,
but in the long run, it ended up working out. When Tua Tagovailoa went down to a
concussion, the recently promoted Jimmy Garoppolo was able to be started in his
place, and when Clyde Edwards-Helaire went down to injury, the NQP traded Jimmy
Garoppolo for Leonard Fournette. That wasn't the only trade the NQP made - when
Chase and Samuel went down with injuries, the NQP acquired Jalen Hurts, Gardner
Minshew, and D.K. Metcalf for Tua Tagovailoa and Chase. Considering that Tua got
another concussion and missed the Fantasy Bowl week, the NQP would have lost if
they didn't deal Tua weeks earlier. The NQP was fairly active on the waiver
wire, picking up a carousel of starting tight ends. The pickup of Rashid Shaheed
led to a key inter-division victory in Week 15 over the Massive Nassiffs. The
Bigg Doggs were leading the league through Week 12, but lost a couple of games
down the stretch and finished with the same record as the NQP, falling 34.5
points scored behind. Shea's division lead was never in doubt all season, and
The Bigg Doggs probably had the most complete starting lineup in the league.
Overall it was a strong, consistent season for the NQP, starting 6-2 and
finishing 5-2. Their high-powered offense led the league in scoring (118.8) and
provided the NQP with the #1 seed. In the first round of the playoffs, the NQP
defeated their old partner Matt Low (Just Call Me Dushi), by 15.5 pts.
This year's Fantasy Bowl was played under some unprecedented circumstances.
The Bigg Doggs held a 1.5 pt lead on the North Quincy Posse on Monday Night of
week 17. Buffalo was playing Cincinnati, and The Bigg Doggs had Tee Higgins left
to play, while the North Quincy Posse had Joe Burrow. At 5:58 in the first
quarter, Buffalo safety Damar Hamlin went into cardiac arrest, and the athletic
trainers needed to resuscitate him with CPR. The NFL eventually postponed the
game and several days later called the game a "no contest," and
Buffalo/Cincinnati would not be able to finish or replay the game. The
Scandalous League still needed to finish our championship game, so we decided to
use the results of the Week 18 game between Cincinnati and Baltimore. The
head-to-head battle of Burrow vs. Higgins didn't really live up to the hype, but
it decided the season for us. Burrow threw his lone touchdown to Ja'Marr Chase,
not Tee Higgins, and the North Quincy Posse secured the victory. In the Fantasy
Bowl, the NQP beat The Bigg Doggs 110.5 - 103.5.
This marked Loftus' 2nd
Scandalous League Football Title.
