For two years we have held the Scandalous League auction via Zoom. The Auction was slow to start, but once we got going there weren't too many hiccups or issues. We added two new rules for 2021. We would now allow owners the ability to add a kicker prior to Week 1 if their kicker was deemed to be out. The second rule involved the payouts for Division Winners and the Playoffs. Only the #1 seed would be paid for winning the division ($100). The winner of the #3 vs #2 seed playoff game would also receive $100, as would the winner of the Wild Card vs. the #1 seed playoff game. The Consolation Game winner during the final playoff week would receive $50, and the Fantasy Bowl participants would split the remaining ($750 - $550 to the Champ, and $200 to the runner-up). The NFL had also added an 18th week to the regular season, so we decided to add a 15th game to our regular season. In 2022 we will be switching the divisions up and we agreed to table any further discussions about regular-season schedules and playoff seeding until then. One thing that we didn't anticipate was that COVID-19 and the Omicron strain would end up putting hundreds of more players on the COVID List than in 2020. The lion's share of the outbreaks came towards the end of the season and none of the NFL games needed to be postponed to another week. Luckily, only a handful of games had to be pushed back a couple of extra days. We had voted down the idea of playoff transactions, but we may want to take a closer look in 2022 if COVID is the new normal.

Playoffs:

Championship Game #1: Massive Nassiffs (Jeff) defeated Grid Iron (Paul) , 102.0 - 75.0.

Championship Game #2: Frozen Tundra (Eric) defeated Baby Boom (Brian) , 136.5 - 122.5.

Toilet Bowl Loser: Crenshaw Pete (James).

Fantasy Bowl: Massive Nassiffs (Jeff) defeated Frozen Tundra (Eric), 124.5 - 65.0.

The Fantasy Bowl wasn't as competitive as we had hoped. By 3 PM, Jeff was texting Eric saying "Not looking good for me. All my guys but one is playing now and I don't have 80 points yet". That's what we in the business call the Reverse Jinx. Let's just say it worked out for Jeff. His team went off and he ended up scoring 124.5 pts. Meanwhile, the Frozen Tundra could only muster up 65.0 pts on the day. Jeff had started Boston Scott and Dontrell Hilliard because his two regular starters, Antonio Gibson and James Robinson were out. Wouldn't you know that Jeff was able to get 31.5 pts combined from those two guys. The Massive Nassiffs had won four games by 2.0 pts or less during the regular season and truly were destined to win the Championship.

In other league action, Paul defeated Brian 143.5 to 119.5 in the Scandalous League's first-ever Consolation Game that paid a prize. In the Toilet Bowl, Dave Nassiff romped James 115.5 - 64.0. If we ever have an Auction in person again, it will be fun to combine all the Toilet Bowl penalties from the last few days into one fun day.

The foundation of the Massive Nassiffs franchise were keepers from the 2020 season. Eight of the twelve starters in a typical Massive Nassiffs lineup were from last year's team. Jeff traded for Robert Tonyan in the pre-season, which should have shored up another starting spot. That made Jeff's job a little bit easier when targeting players at the 2021 Auction. He knew he needed to upgrade at 2nd QB, add a #1 RB, some wide receiver depth, and bench players, and that's exactly what he did. Jeff targeted Saquon Barkley (only had 3 good weeks all year) and was able to get Baker Mayfield at a reasonable price ($25). From there he added a stable of wide receivers - Diontae Johnson, Jaylen Waddle, and Odell Beckham Jr..When Tonyan went down to a season-ending injury, Jeff was fortunate to be able to grab Dawson Knox off the waiver wire. The key in-season trade acquisitions for the Massive Nassiffs were Carson Wentz and Taylor Heinicke, When paired with Patrick Mahomes, Jeff had 3 other starting QBs to rotate between and survive injuries. Amazingly, Jeff was able to start his original corps of running backs in 44 of the possible 48 games in the first 16 weeks of the season. The combination of Darrell Henderson, Antonio Gibson, and James Robinson provided a reliable base of running backs for nearly the entire season. Depth additions via FAAB ended up paying dividends as both Boston Scott and Dontrell Hilliard were used in the Fantasy Bowl. The 2022 outlook for the Massive Nassiffs is strong - they may be returning 10 starters for next season.

This marked Jeff's 5th Scandalous League Football Title. That breaks a tie with Craig and puts Jeff one football title behind Mike Wakeley. Add in two baseball championships and that puts Jeff in an exclusive club with 7+ Scandalous League Championships. Wakeley (8), Paul (8), and Eric (9).
